Rhodocollybia purpurata
Description
Rhodocollybia purpurata is a species of mushroom of the family Omphalotaceae. It was first described by New Zealand mycologist Greta Stevenson in 1962. The species was later reclassified into the genus Rhodocollybia in 2014. The fungus is native to New Zealand, where it is saprotrophic, meaning it obtains nutrients by breaking down organic material. The fruiting bodies can be found in leaf litter on soil or in mossy areas.
