About the Early Morel

Verpa bohemica, a morel lookalike whose thimble cap hangs from the very top of a long stem. True morel caps are fused to the stem along their length. Contains gyromitrin style toxins and has caused confirmed poisonings. Some old foragers eat it dried and thoroughly cooked, but it is not recommended.
