About the Morel
One of the most sought-after wild mushrooms. Their honeycomb-like cap is distinctive. They appear briefly in spring, driving foragers into a frenzy. Commercial cultivation has been achieved but is difficult and rare. They command $30-50 per pound fresh. False morels (gyromitrin-containing) are dangerous lookalikes. They often appear in areas affected by recent forest fires.
