About the Emetic Russula
Russula emetica, the sickener. Bright red cap, chalk white brittle flesh, and a taste so acrid it is instantly unmistakable. Rarely lethal but reliably miserable, causing hours of nausea. Red capped Russulas are best left alone. Folk rules about red caps are unreliable.
