About the Amethyst Deceiver
Strikingly purple when fresh, fading to dull brown with age - hence deceiver. They grow in association with tree roots. Their color can be so vivid they look artificial. Despite their unusual color, they are good edibles. They are small and typically found in large numbers. Related to the commonly cultivated Laccaria bicolor. Their purple color fades quickly after picking.
