About the Scaly Wood Mushroom
Similar to the cultivated button mushroom but wild. Their cap develops brown scales with age. Found in grassy clearings and woodland edges. Must be cooked before eating. Part of the same genus as the common cultivated mushroom. Their field guide description often includes notes about their slightly stronger flavor compared to shop-bought varieties.
