Trumpet (Black)

About the Trumpet (Black)

Called the poor mans truffle for their deep, rich, earthy flavor. Dark grey to black, trumpet-shaped, and look rather unappealing but are culinary treasures. Their flavor intensifies when dried. They grow in the same areas as chanterelles. Despite their dark color, they are closely related to golden chanterelles. Difficult to find because they blend with leaf litter.
