About the Chicken of the Woods
Bright orange and yellow shelf fungus that actually tastes like chicken when young and properly cooked. A good gateway mushroom for wild foraging since few lookalikes exist. They grow in large shelf-like clusters on tree trunks. Should be cooked thoroughly. Some people have sensitivity, especially to specimens growing on conifers. Can replace chicken in vegetarian recipes.
