About the Umbrella Polypore
Dendropolyporus umbellatus rises as a cluster of gray brown caps on one branching stem. In Chinese medicine the dried underground sclerotium, called zhuling, has served as a diuretic for over 2,000 years. Modern research examines its polysaccharides. The mushroom itself is edible when young.
