About the Horse Mushroom
Agaricus arvensis, a large creamy field mushroom with a faint anise or almond smell. Caps can reach 20 cm across. The stem base may stain faint yellow, unlike the vivid chrome of the yellow stainer. Firm flesh suits soups and frying. Pastures with horses are classic habitat.
