About the False Morel
Gyromitra esculenta, a spring mushroom whose gyromitrin converts to monomethylhydrazine, a chemical cousin of rocket fuel. Eaten in Scandinavia only after careful parboiling with ventilation. Fatal poisonings and liver transplants are on record. Banned from sale in several countries. Best avoided in any form.
